Building the Outer maple stems
I used soft maple to build the outer bow and stern stems. I cut the maple down to 1/16 inch thick strips by 3/4 inch wide. Using a heat hun I slowly curved the maple laminated strips to conform to the hull, and left it to settle into a curved shape. Later, I used whatever clamps and tape to secure the maple stems to the hull until the glue dried.
